How can AI agents support global B2B sourcing?
AI agents can help buyers organise supplier information and help suppliers respond to early questions. Product fit, certifications, commercial terms and final supplier selection still require verification by responsible people.
What Buyers Need
Start with information that can be checked.
Buyers often need specifications, applications, minimum order quantity, indicative lead time, certification status, export markets and a reliable contact route. A supplier page should distinguish general capability from a confirmed quote. If a certificate is mentioned, provide its scope, issuer and validity where publication is authorised.
When information is missing or inconsistent across a catalog, PDF and sales conversation, an AI-assisted answer can be incomplete. Organising current product facts helps both human buyers and software systems read them. It does not guarantee a supplier will be recommended by any platform.
Where an Agent Helps
Use agents for preparation and handover.
On the supplier side, EAS can answer approved routine questions, ask for the missing RFQ details and structure a lead for sales review. Technical specifications, exceptions and commercial commitments should pass to the responsible expert or salesperson. For organisations with deeper technical knowledge and multi-team review, ETA can connect approved documents and expert workflows.
The pilot question is specific: can the team obtain a more complete, traceable inquiry without letting the agent invent a product specification or promise a delivery date? Test representative questions and known edge cases before broad deployment.
What to Measure
Measure the share of answers supported by approved material, completeness of the agreed inquiry fields, correct escalation and the sales team's ability to act on the resulting record. Compare with the prior process using a defined period and sample; do not assume an agent will produce a particular sales result.
